Finger Leather
In the middle of the tank, you will find a soft coral called finger leather with thick brown branches.
It is found in coral reefs to the south of AmamiOshima. They often live in colonies.
It is not in the same family as stony corals, but it has small fragments in its flesh called spicules and its body is hard and its surface is rough.
Zooxanthellae dwell inside its body and finger leather lives off of nutrients created by these phytoplanktons through photosynthesis. Therefore, the lighting on the tank is set stronger. It also prefers to live in flowing currents, so we make sure to adjust the water current accordingly.
