Clown Triggerfish

モンガラカワハギ

The clown triggerfish has a dark navy body with white spots on its stomach and yellow mesh-like pattern on its back. They live to the south of SagamiBay and can grow up to be 25 cm in length.

With strong jaws and teeth, they can crush and eat prey like crabs, shells, and sea urchins. When in danger, they hide between rocks and stick out spikes on its back and stomach to avoid being pulled out. They sleep at night in the same manner.

They live individually or in pairs, marking their own territories.
