Spotted seals can only be found in the North Pacific Ocean, north of Hokkaido. Males are twice as larger than females and can grow up to be 1.8 m in length and 100 kg in weight.
Its body is whitish grey and has elliptical black spots.
It breeds from January to April on floating ice. Newborn seals live on floating ice and it is weaned from its mother once the ice melts.
An adult seal can dive deeper than 300 m at once and feeds on shrimp, crabs, squid, octopus, cod, herring, and other creatures.
