Displayed here are loggerhead turtle and green turtle hatched during summer in Yakushima.

At Kagoshima City Aquarium, we raise loggerhead and green turtles born on that year for 1 year. After recording its growth, we mark them so we can identify them the next summer and release them. Through this, we expect to find out whether there is a difference in survival/spawning rates between sea turtles that are released to the ocean right after birth and after a year from birth. After a year of rearing, baby sea turtles weighing 20g at birth becomes a hundred times larger. You can enjoy their marvelous growth process in this water tank.
