On the south side of Sakurajima port where the Sakurajima ferry comes and goes is the Hakamagoshiregion, the first marine park in Japan. Hakamagoshiregion was created by the lava from the eruption of Sakurajima in 3rd year of Taisho Era. The lava got in the ocean, cooled, and solidified to make a complex shape terrain. It is facing the West Sakurajima Channel, the narrowest channel in the bay, and the current is relatively strong. Strong currents and a complex shaped terrain create irregular water flow.

Displayed in this tank are creatures that prefer strong currents like strawberry coral. You will also find many fish that prefers protected areas such as in between rocks.
